Notes:

How the movies play depends on browser setup: they may appear in a window of Netscape or Internet Explorer and play using the QuickTime plug-in. Alternatively they may download as QuickTime files which can be played using QuickTime Player (the program is free and can be downloaded from http://www.apple.com/quicktime).

The size of each movie file is given at the beginning of the description.

The numbers at the top of the frame in many of the movies show the elapsed time of the recording (min:sec). These "time-stamps" were applied automatically in MetaMorph, the program we use for making the time-lapse recordings. MetaMorph comes from Universal Imaging (http://www.image1.com)
