Women and successful careers: Making it work
On Thursday, June 8, 2017 the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) will host a ?Women in Science? event to enable the exchange between PhD students and Postdocs and professional women with successful careers. The panel with representatives from both academia and industry will address the importance of networking, mentoring, and provide insights on how to approach recruitment hurdles and mesh career with family life.
Five professional women with successful careers will discuss with the participants and provide examples of:
- How they dealt with unconscious bias
- How a mentor has helped their career
- What networking opportunities they would not miss
- How they managed to mesh their career with family life
- How they approached next career steps
