Barbara Hohn honored with Ludwig-Wittgenstein-Preis
On October 1, 2010, Barbara Hohn, emeritus group leader of the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research, was honored with the prestigious Ludwig-Wittgenstein-Preis of the Östreichische Forschungsgemeinschaft for her achievements in plant molecular biology. She joined the FMI in 1976 shortly after its inception, and retired in 2004. During her tenure at the FMI, Barbara Hohn not only pioneered plant transgenesis, but was the first to discover how stress induces epigenetic changes in plants and how these modifications are passed on to the next generations. Barbara is a Foreign Member of the Royal Society of London and has received many other prestigious awards during her successful career.
